Juan Interview

A new training year begins and we welcome Juan to Local Brand X

As an IHK-certified training company, we have brought on board support for the further development of the Local Marketing Platform just in time for the new training year. We welcome Juan to our team, who recently started his three-year apprenticeship as an IT specialist for application development at Local Brand X.

Training as an IT specialist for application development

In the future, Juan will help us optimize the system and develop new customer solutions while expanding his theoretical and practical knowledge. In a short interview, we asked him a few questions about his decision to train and his first impressions of the team.

Hello Juan, welcome to the team! Tell us why you decided to train as an IT specialist for application development.

Ever since I was a child and my father bought a computer, I was immediately fascinated by technology. At first, I was mainly interested in computer games, but as time went by, I wanted to know more and more about how a computer actually works and what's behind it. After my technical high school diploma I bought a very extensive book about the programming language C++. After reading a few pages I realized that I understand absolutely nothing about it. *laughs

A few YouTube videos finally helped me understand more about the subject. I started studying computer science in Argentina and started a job in this field.

When I came to Germany five years ago, I had difficulties with the German language at first and did many other jobs that I didn't really enjoy. But I never lost my enthusiasm for the computer industry. Eventually, I decided to pursue my interests again, took online courses and got in touch with people who were also interested in application development. In the end, I decided to train in this field and I'm already very excited about what's in store for me.

What is your first impression of the team?

I have a very positive impression of the team so far. Right on my second day in the office, I met Jonas' dog. I love dogs! So I think it's really great that we sometimes have a dog visit the office. I also really like the fact that there is no dress code and that you can just come to work in the clothes you feel comfortable in. The whole atmosphere in the team generally feels very familiar and I really enjoy going to work.

What do you enjoy most about your work at Local Brand X so far?

What I like most is that I can learn so many new things. Even if I've already been exposed to some things, it's a good way to delve deeper into the topics and expand my knowledge. What I enjoy most about development is the conceptual design and the fact that I can find concrete solutions to problems. Of course, working as a developer can be a bit frustrating when certain things don't turn out the way you want them to. However, I quickly noticed that there are hardly any bad moods at Local Brand X and that there is always a lot of laughter. I think that's great!

At the moment, I'm mainly working on courses and exercises to get a better understanding of the topics. In the future, I will work on small projects and contribute to the further development of the Local Marketing Platform. I'm looking forward to that.

Thank you very much for the nice interview, Juan. We wish you a lot of fun during the whole training and hope that you will have a great time at Local Brand X and learn a lot.
