Between demo portal and product development: Interview with working student Finne

Hello Finn! Thank you for taking the time for a short interview today. Please introduce yourself first.

Hello, I'm Finne. I'm from Mainz, I'm studying Digital Media at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and I've been working at Local Brand X for just over two years now as a working student in Product Management.

What made you decide to join Local Brand X as a working student?

I started my studies at the same time as Local Brand X. The original plan was for me to do a dual study program with Local Brand X as a practice partner, but that turned out differently and that's why I've been working here as a student trainee for over two years now. The position was advertised on the university website at the time and appealed to me straight away. During the first interview and my trial working day, I immediately felt comfortable and also realized that I would fit in well with the team.

And what are your tasks in product management with us?

I used to work a lot on concepts for new functions of the Local Marketing Platform and was in contact with potential new service providers. In the meantime, things have changed a bit and I now focus more on the documentation of the platform - i.e. our Knowledge Center - and maintain our demo portal and the so-called master system.

What do you find exciting about working in product management?

I find it exciting to be involved in the ongoing development of the Local Marketing Platform and to help decide on new functions to be added to the system. I can also have a say in the demo portal and the Knowledge Center and implement things according to my ideas.

Now you're not only working at Local Brand X, but also studying on the side. How do you manage to juggle your studies and working student job?

Fortunately, my studies at Mainz University of Applied Sciences are designed so that I can work well on the side. I always have one day a week when I'm at university all day and the other days I have shorter courses, so I have the free time to work. That's why it's not really a problem to combine work and study. What I sometimes find difficult is fitting in the time I spend studying on my own. But there's usually enough time in the evenings or at weekends to do this too.

And apart from work and studying, what do you like to do in your free time?

I play volleyball two or three times a week and generally enjoy doing sports. I also like to use my free time to meet up with friends or family and do things together.

Thank you very much for the interview Finne and have fun with your future tasks at Local Brand X!
